Workshop #1 “Accordion Master Class” with Patricia Bartell
Here is an opportunity to get helpful tips and instructions for improving technique, artistry, and over-all musicianship. Bring your accordion! Thurs 4pm Festhalle
Workshop #2 “The Do's and Don'ts of Accordion Playing” with Gary Blair
Gary plans on showing the attendees what is good and bad when learning the accordion. It will cover things like Bellows control, fingering, phrasing etc., etc. Bring your accordion! Thurs 5pm Festhalle
Workshop #3 ”Two topics: the midi accordion and showmanship” with Johnny V
Johnny has spent years perfecting his use of the midi accordion and being a showman. Learn some valuable tips. Even non-midi players should have some understanding of midi technology. Fri 11am Grange/Lower
Workshop #4 “Musicianship for the Accordionist” with Bonnie Birch
Understand how to apply key musical principles of scales, chords, and ear training to improve memorization, improvisation, embellishments, and accompaniment when playing a tune. Applies to any instrument. Bring your instrument! Fri 12:15pm Grange/Lower
Workshop #5 “Instant Zydeco” with Murl Allen Sanders
Learn the hallmarks of Cajun/Zydeco Louisiana-style music and be able to play it right away. This is fun music to play and the basics are easy! Topics include: Scales and chords used, tune examples, history, practice tips etc. Bring your accordion! Fri 5pm Grange/Lower
Workshop #6 ”Sight-reading accordion duets” with Jim O'Brien
Sight-read several easy and medium-level duets written for accordion. Participants will receive copies of each for their own use. Bring your accordion! Sat 8am Grange/Lower
Workshop #7 “Diatonic Buttonbox Accordion Demystefied” with Max Kyllonen and Kory Tideman
All accordionists, whether or not they play the buttonbox accordion, will enjoy expanding their knowledge with this fun workshop. Sat 11:30am Grange/Lower
Workshop #8 “Music Theory and its Vital Importance” with Cory Pesaturo
Cory will go over how knowing Music Theory greatly improves every aspect of your playing, from sight reading to speed, musicality in your notes to Truly becoming not an accordionist, but a musician On the accordion. Bring your accordion! Sat 5pm Grange/Lower
Free! “Demonstration of the Roland midi accordion” with Cory Pesaturo
Cory, an official representative of the Roland Corporation’s midi accordion, will demonstrate its features. This is a free session. Fri, Sat 1:30pm Grange/upper
